Common ingredients used in anti wrinkles creamsAnti wrinkle creams are used frequently these days but we hardly spend time to see their ingredients, and the effects they have on our skin. In this article I will discuss some common natural and synthetic components which are used in anti wrinkle creams and their effect on your skin.

NATURAL INGREDIENTS

There are a variety of natural ingredients which are used in combination in various anti wrinkle creams producing the desired results. The commonly used ingredients are:

  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Shea Butter:
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Pumice, Yellow Clay, finely ground Oatmeal and Tea Tree Powder with essential oils of Neroli and Chamomile
  • oils of Lemon and Lemon-scented Tea Tree
  • Calendula and Lavender extracts and Jojoba oil.
  • Rose, Cale dula, Glycerine, Witchhazel and Aloe Vera

Almond oil contains naturally occurring vitamins A, B and E and works as a conditioner, moisturizer and skin softner, relieves dryness, irritation and itching.It can be used for all skin types.

Evening primrose oil contains minerals, vitamins, essential fatty acids and is a source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA.) It acts as a moisturizer for dry and sensitive skin and also heps in regeneration of new skin cells.

Shea butter is used to prevent early aging, healing of sun damaged skin and as a moisturizer

Lavender Essential Oil works as antitoxic and a tonic, helps in skin regeneration and improves intra cellular blood circulation.

Tea tree powder, pumice, yellow clay, finely ground oatmeal with oils of neroli and chamomile are used as a combination in various skin gels and are said to remove the superficial dead skin and produce soothing effect.

Extracts of oils of lemon,lemon –scented tea tree, calendula,lavender and jojoba oil are used to remove natural skin oils, makeup and impurities.They keep the skin hydrated and smooth.

Aloe Vera, Calendula, Glycerine, Witchhazel and rose are used as skin toners and they can be used on all types of sensitive skins, without irritation and dryness.

  • Beta hydroxy acids

  • Trichloroacetic acid

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are the water soluble acids which are derived from food products and they include glycolic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, lactic acid and malic acid.They penetrate the skins outer surface and reduce the cell adhesion thereby promoting skin renewal.Glycolic acid is the commonly used ingredient in anti wrinkle creams.

Beta hydroxy acids(BHA) are lipid soluble and penetrate better than AHA in oily skin.They increase the shedding of outer layer of skin and thus promotin g fresh, younger skin surface. Salicylic acid is the commonly used BHA in anti wrinkle creams.

Tretinoin is vitamin A and it promotes the production of collagen which is a connective tissue protein and main component of skin. It also promotes generation of new skin.

Trichloroacetic acid is used in wart treatment, chemical peeling and tattoo removal. It promotes generation of new skin by killing old skin cells.

Phenol also known as carbolic acid prevents skin damage form ultraviolet rays and is thus used in sun screen lotions.

Q10 scientifically known as co enzyme Q10 works as an anti oxidant and prevents skin damage from ultraviolet light and is used as a powerful chemical in anti wrinkle cream.
